5 Affordable Summer Holidays Activities!

While the kids are counting down the days until they break up for summer, you’re probably wondering how you’re going to entertain them for 6 weeks without having to re-mortgage the house. Luckily, kids really don’t need expensive trips out to have fun. Have a read of some of these exciting, cheap (or free!) things to keep them entertained.

Look Out For Vouchers

We know that a simple trip to a theme park nowadays can cost an arm and a leg, but it is possible when you take advantage of offers that are available. With promotional packs of Kellogg’s products, they offer a ‘grown-ups go free’ voucher when you purchase a child’s ticket. National rail is also offering 2’4’1 offers when you travel by train this summer. Check out their website for more information!

Get Baking!

If there’s an opportunity to make a mess, chances are kids are going to love it. Baking can be a really fun and affordable way to keep your children entertained and also gives you an excuse to eat the delicious treats afterwards! Try something simple (and that won’t result in a flour explosion) like these chocolate rice krispie cakes

Camp Out In The Garden!

Have all the fun of going on a camping trip without having to leave your house (or use an outdoor toilet). Set up a tent in the back garden, add duvets, stock up on snacks and let the kids have their own sleepover. Something as simple as this can really spice up those long 6 weeks without forking out for a holiday!

Go To The Cinema For Less than £10!

If you didn’t know, most cinema chains offer a kids cinema experience with tickets usually under £5 for children and adults. They show all of the new family movies but at a discounted price. Cinemas are now also a lot more lenient with people bringing their own snacks too so buy a bag of popcorn from the supermarket to avoid the extortionate snack charges!

Pond Dipping

With tablets and phones being the main source of entertainment for children nowadays, it’s easy to forget how much fun can be had by just letting loose and diving into nature. Your little ones will love dipping their nets in and seeing what they find, and it can be educational too! All you need is a net and a bucket (or something that you can put your finds into).
